Cuprian Elbaite Tourmaline is a complex aluminium borosilicate with a high copper content which results in the characteristic "electric blue" colouration. It is often found in combination with Pink Tourmaline and is quite rare.

It is sometimes called "Paraiba" Tourmaline although "Paraiba-like" is probably more accurate as "Paraiba Tourmaline" is from the Paraiba region of Brazil. It is also sometimes called "Neon Tourmaline" due to the vivid "neon" blue colouration.
