This stone is a bright red coloured variety of calcite, a mineral family that comes in a variety of colours. It is a calcium carbonate mineral with a hardness of 3 and is found in the USA and Mexico.
Mystic Lore: Intuitive sources say that Red Calcite puts one in touch with the vital, life-giving energies of the first chakra (the energy center at the base of the spine). It is said to sooth imbalances which bring on fatigue and exhaustion and to help one activate inner reserves of energy.
